hello,
I am a librarian, but I post this in my capacity as a graduate student. I am hoping to sponsor a fim series in the department in which I am studying. What are the performance rights issues? The film series would fulfil requirements for an independent study for my degree, so I would think that it would be considered a teaching activity and not entertainment.
What part do publicity of the events and access to the venue play in securing performance rights? What about feature films vs. 'non-dramatic' works? There would be no admission charge and access would be restricted to grad students and faculty in the dept.
thanks,
Anne
