Electronic Reserves

  • I just want to revisit this subject and see if opinions have change. If the library owns a paper copy of a journal article (from 1986), do you think we need to pay copyright fees to scan it and put it on electronic reserve? We do have a current subscription through a database, but it doesn't go back that far.   Just wanted to check some current practices!

You can definitely consider the application of fair use in this situation! For the fourth factor, the effect on the market, I think the fact that you already own a print copy of this work is extremely relevant.
