Estimate for copyright consultant

Hi friends. Special librarian here, working in global health/development. I'm wondering if anyone can give me an estimate for an hourly rate for a copyright specialist to consult for us on the ins and outs of providing library services outside of our institution. We're exploring the idea of offerring pay-per-use article retrieval and literature searching to sister organizations. I just need a ballpark figure for budgeting purposes. Thanks!

Much may depend on what type of specialist you may wish to engage with. If you're looking to work with an attorney then you may wish to check with your state's Bar Association to identify licensed IP attorneys in your area and reach out to them directly for a quote. You can also consider inviting a knowledgeable copyright librarian to visit your campus or work with you virtually on this. I would not say there is any standard hourly rate that I'm aware of among copyright librarians for helping with something like this. If you'd be interested in working with a copyright librarian, I'd actually recommend that you reach out to a few, explain the assistance you'd need for this project, and ask if they would be willing to work with you for a fee or honorarium. They can then let you know what services they may be willing/able to offer and their own rates.
