Can a magazine publisher that my freelancer photos are in scan magazines years later and provide them digitally on the internet?

  • I've provided photography (to which I retained copyright) to a magazine publisher for many years. The original publisher no longer exists but sold the company to another publisher. The new company has scaned the magazines, (75 years worth) and now provides digital reproductions on the internet for free. I feel that this may violate my, and other freelancers copyright. There was no contract stating that they could ever do this. In fact, there was no contract at the time of the photograhy assignment or photo "sales". I've done work for the original company since 1982. Any thoughts would help!
