  • Were is the best place to locate copyright holder of American videos.
I need to find to get public performacne rights in Canada. This will let us use video in educational situation between teacher and students
  • There are two places that are the usual ones to clear performance rights for motion pictures--The Motion Picture Licensing Corp. (www.mplc.com) and Movie Licensing USA (www.movlic.com).

For higher ed licenses, you could try Swank Pictures (www.swank.com)

For more info on these two organizations, see the UT copyright page at
    http://www.utsystem.edu/ogc/Intellectualproperty/permissn.
  • If you have a lawful copy of the video, and you want to use it in the classroom for teaching purposes, why do you need public performance rights? In Canada, do you have an exception that allows for PP in the classroom without prior authorization? Just wondering.
