  We've been updating our library catalog to include summaries for more items. If we can't get a summary off an item itself or a publisher description from Library of Congress or another catalog, we've been using some descriptions from Amazon or Barnes and Noble online. I am wondering if this is okay--sometimes we change the descriptions slightly to make them less subjective, but we credit the site we got them from.

  Many of the "product descriptions" on Amazon are taken from the publishers' websites of catalogs, but not necessarity all. I think you'd be safest going to the publisher's own description of the item on their own website. Using the customer reviews would definitely NOT be a safe thing to do!
