Video performance rights

One of the teachers in my school says he has acquired the performance rights to show a particular video for entertainment purposes one evening after school, on the school premises. He wants to charge a $2.00 entrance fee to students who come to watch the video. Presumably, the monies accumulated will be used in some way for the students. My question is, does having performance rights for a video also give one the license to charge prospective viewers an entrance fee?
