School: uploading videos to a server for sharing

  I am looking through the Complete Copyright book and cannot find specific information to answer the above concern. Our IT is asking if it is permissible to upload our digital collection of History Channel, PBS, etc DVDs to the server so teachers can have easy access? My gut is saying no, but I cannot cite anything specific. I am assuming IF it is okay, the same Fair Use Guidelines would prevail.
