Photographic Copyright and Creative Inspiration
- October 3, 2010 @ 10:41pmdmatlock says:Obviously, photographic work is protected by copyright law. It cannot be copied or reproduced without permission from the photographer, nor can credit be taken for an image taken by anyone other than the photographer. I understand this.
However, what is the appropriate copyright language regarding creative inspiration? For example, use of a similar prop or location by another photographer. To my knowledge, there is no law preventing other photographers from using similar, or even the same, props/locations/posing/wardrobe in their own work. Photographic copyright only protects the image, but not necessarily the creative concept from reinterpretation by another artist. Is this correct? - November 10, 2010 @ 2:47pmJanetCroft says:ALL posts containing commercial links will be removed, no matter how relevant the text may seem to be.
