  Hi. I'm keen to record an audiobook of a book by Sigmund Freud. I live in the UK.
  I believe SF's works are now public domain but I notice that his translator into English, A A Brill, died in 1946.
  Does that mean all Brill translations of Freud's work cannot be deemed public domain?
  How can I be certain? I certainly do not wish to infringe the translators copyright rights.

  Yes, those translations should still be under copyright. You might see if there is an earlier translation. Check the Copyright Slider on our home page for an easy way to check on whether something is likely to be copyrighted or not.
