Public Performance Recording

Example, our drama club purchase rights to perform a play. Can we make and distribute a copy of the performance to only the participant's? I know we cannot make and distribute copies to the public for free or profit but do performers receive privileges to archive their stage work as a record of their abilities? Right of Record?

On its own, videotaping the performance without permission of the play's copyright holder could be a violation of his/her rights as well as a breach of the contract you signed with the rights holder.
It is best to include all possible uses in your request for permission to perform the play.
