Replacing audio from video for an audio showreel

  • Hi guys, I have created my first Audio Show-reel. As an example of audio editing I have replaced the audio track of a short clip of the Animation movie Ratatouille. what I want to show case is the audio that I have created but obviously the video is also displayed. Am I infringing copyright?

    Regards
  • Depends on what you are using it for and how much you are using. This could possibly fall under fair use and be considered transformative. Do you intend to sell it? That counts against you. And you could be well within your rights and still receive an C&D from the owner. Hollywood studios tend to take a very narrow view of fair use.
If you are only using a short clip and do not intend to use it for anything other than creative expression, then I do not believe you are infringing.
