DVD duplication
- January 3, 2012 @ 4:19pmdfly says:An instructor in an official college course wants to use a PBS documentary in their 6-week course. The school library has a copy of the DVD, but only checks it out for 3 weeks. To ensure that the work is available for the face2face class sessions, the media dept is asked to make a copy for use during the course period, which will be returned and destroyed after the course.
Ok? - January 4, 2012 @ 12:51pmwilliamsonl says:I don't really see how that would be a good fair use case. That would be like making a copy of a book for two people to use instead of buying a second copy. If I want to read a book someone else has checked out, I have to wait.
You can always try asking for permission for this or for streaming rights. - January 4, 2012 @ 1:12pmJanetCroft says:I'd suggest putting it on reserve if students are going to need to view it, or check it out to the instructor for the whole course.
